About Qulibra

Qulibra was created by Dr. L. Michael Verdusco, an educator, instructional designer, and higher education technology leader with more than two decades of experience supporting faculty and advancing teaching and learning through technology.

The project originally began during the COVID-19 pandemic as a small personal macOS utility designed to save time while working remotely and managing assessment content more efficiently. What started as a simple single-window tool quickly evolved through real-world daily use. An editor was later added to correct formatting and import errors more effectively, and eventually a full question library system was developed to improve organization, reuse, and long-term value for broader distribution.

Throughout his career, Dr. Verdusco has worked closely with faculty across disciplines to improve course design, assessment practices, online learning, and educational technology integration. As Director of a Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, he has led faculty development initiatives focused on pedagogy, instructional innovation, and student success. Prior to that role, he served in educational technology leadership and instructional design positions supporting professional programs, where he helped secure grant funding, implement instructional technologies, and expand faculty support services.

Qulibra grew out of firsthand experience with assessment workflows, learning management systems, and the practical challenges faculty encounter when creating and managing exam content. Existing tools often felt outdated, overly complex, or disconnected from the realities of modern teaching and instructional design. Qulibra was developed to provide a more streamlined, modern, and faculty-centered experience for creating, organizing, and exporting assessment content.

Built specifically for macOS, Qulibra combines a native interface with standards-focused export capabilities designed to support higher education workflows, including Blackboard and QTI-compatible formats. The goal is simple: provide educators with a professional, reliable, and thoughtfully designed tool that respects both their time and their teaching practice.

Dr. Verdusco holds a Ph.D. in Technology and Education, where his research focused on information and communication technology literacy assessment. His background includes instructional design, multimedia development, online learning, educational technology leadership, and faculty mentoring. He has also contributed to the broader higher education community through conference presentations, peer mentoring, and service as a proposal reviewer for EDUCAUSE.

Qulibra is an independent software project developed by Dr. L. Michael Verdusco and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any university, learning management system provider, or educational technology company.
